RICE UNIVERSITY PROVOST'S FELLOWSHIPS

Program Description

The Provost's Fellowship Program is designed to increase diversity in the Schools of Architecture, Humanities, Music, and Social Sciences. As part of Rice's commitment to the importance of enrolling students from underrepresented groups, the Provost's Fellowship Program, which includes a Student Advisory Council, works both to increase enrollment and to support students through the successful completion of the Ph.D. Administered by the Provost's Fellowship Committee, which includes faculty representation from all graduate departments, this program is commited both to building inter-departmental community amongst fellows and to fostering success within particular graduate programs.

Awards

Provost's Fellows in the Schools of Humanities and Social Sciences and in the Music School's DMA program receive a four-year fellowship, including stipend (amount determined by awards made to all entering students within specific departments) and tuition waiver. Fellows in the Schools of Architecture and the Music School's MA program receive a two or three-year fellowship, including stipend and tuition waiver.

Application process

Nominations for Provost's Fellows are made directly by the graduate department to the Provost's Fellowship Committee. Potential nominees should apply to the graduate program of interest in the normal way.
